Essex Supporting And Safeguarding During The Covid 19 Response

In regards to your query, I can update you that ESCB have a dedicated Coronavirus page on our website and this is under constant review as new information is shared with us by partners about their Covid-19 response.  This will also include advice for families about support in their local community. Thank you for sending us details about North Yorkshire’s response and page, it is always useful to share with each other.

We have made some temporary changes to Child Protection Case Conference arrangements, they are now all held virtually (online/skype) and partners and families are included via skype or by phone.  Some meetings can be held face to face if required on a case by case basis and only if social distancing is possible.

All MACE meetings are being held virtually with social workers, team managers and partners.  This is currently working well.  We are now trying to use Microsoft Team as much as possible rather than Skype as this appears to work better.

In regards to keeping in close contact with young people, all have been sent a letter from ECC which advise on how to stay safe at this time.  This letter is also available to view on the Children In Care Council website.  ECC are continuing with Return Home Interviews, albeit virtually, they are also continuing with their 1-2-1 and intensive support programmes, regular contact and support virtually so work with children and young people is continuing.

In terms of professional support for the workforce, the Essex Social Care Academy is offering a daily Vlog called ‘Escapes’ with reflections to assist practitioners with their wellbeing during this difficult time and help those working from home to stay connected.
