Can you hold the baby? Sophie May – Blog

After a year of volunteering for the NWG a fair few years ago, in March 2017 I finally got the job I wanted – Network Assistant. I was thrilled to join the organisation and the great team behind the NWG.

With child exploitation being close to my heart, having qualifications in admin and customer service and being a whizz at social media (if I do say so myself) this was the perfect job for me!

Since 2017 I have helped with the growth of the network, with some of our social media platforms doubling in followers. I have built some good, strong, working relationships from individuals all over the country and sometimes able to put faces to a name at our yearly conference! I have been able to do what I thought to be one of the scarier tasks of sending out an email to over 14,000 members and do so now on a regular basis. I have even run the Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day, alone, with the outcome being one of the best years we have had!

Every day is completely different here for me, from memberships to events to social media to writing a blog like this (which I have never, ever done before!).

Keeping everything varied helps me build on my skills and keeps everyday interesting.

In October I leave the NWG for a little while to have my second baby (I must be mad) and in September we are holding interviews for the right person to take over my role and hold the fort until I am back.

Click the link to find out what we are looking for, closing dates and the application form. The successful candidate will then spend 2 weeks with me being shown the ropes and getting to know the team.

Good Luck!!
