Over the past three years, Steve Baguley from the NWG Network has visited and worked with over one hundred areas focusing on exploitation and the transition into adulthood. This work has been across both children’s and adult services partnerships. The work has focused on identifying the need for change and sharing practice, learning, research resources etc to help inform local responses. There have been meetings, training workshops etc and the NWG have also developed a national electronic Transition Network.
The NWG was delighted to participate in a small working group to develop the Bridging the Gap: Transitional Safeguarding and the Role of Social Work with Adults- Practice Knowledge Briefing (published yesterday 27.05.21)
Special thanks to Dez, Patrick and Fran for all their work and to all those areas and services who contributed case studies. Although early days there has been such positive feedback which is so encouraging.
We look forward to continuing this work and supporting areas as they further develop their response to exploitation and transitional safeguarding
